The language we use to describe ourselves, our lives, and the world around us has the power to hold us back or set us free. At Word Play Therapy, I empower people to create a new narrative that reveals their strengths, abilities, and resilience. I help survivors of traumatic experiences seek posttraumatic growth by working through the anxiety, depression, eating and body issues, and addiction that have developed as a method for coping. Clients who work with me find that they connect more deeply with loved ones and find profound meaning in their lives. Together we can find ways to help you feel better, live more genuinely, spark your creativity, and reconnect with what makes you a singular human being.
My name is Liz Witmer and I am a passionate therapist, educator, supervisor, and parent. I counsel adolescents and adults who are struggling with issues of identity to feel better about themselves and their place in the world. My aim is to provide you with a safe space to bravely look inward. I will support and gently challenge you to find the strengths and resilience that you already possess. I connect deeply with clients because this fosters the ability to make change. My training in cognitive behavioral therapy will help you examine the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so that we can jointly monitor your progress as you work towards your goals.
